BUMN business unit profile videos: explaining a service clearly to partners and the public

A business unit often has services and customers that differ from its parent company’s image. We wrote this guide from the business unit videos we produced for BULOG in 2025.

A BUMN business unit profile video explains what a big parent name tends to hide: what this unit provides, who it serves and how it works. BUMN are Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises, and many run business units with their own customers. Three minutes is usually enough. In 2025 we made one project for BULOG’s head office that produced two business unit videos, UB Industri (3:04) and the Pest Control business unit (3:22). Each video is now used by its own unit.

When a business unit needs its own video

A parent company’s profile video tells the story of its vision and its wider role. That is not enough when a unit has to explain its own services. A business unit usually needs its own video when:

  • It sells services or products to customers different from the parent company’s.
  • Potential partners need to understand what the unit can do before a meeting or a partnership process.
  • It appears at exhibitions, guest visits or internal events and needs a consistent introduction.
  • New employees need to get to know the unit they are joining.

Explaining a technical service with pictures

A service like pest control is hard to explain in words alone. Potential customers want to see who does the work, what equipment they use and how the job is done safely. Footage from the field answers those questions faster than a brochure.

For a technical service, build the video around the real order of the work, from the team’s arrival to the result. Technical terms can be explained with motion graphics so a general audience can follow.

Showing a production process

A unit that processes products has an advantage: its process can be shown. For a unit like UB Industri, tell the story of the raw material, the process and the people behind it as one flow, not as a list of facilities.

Drone shots show the scale of a plant or warehouse in a few seconds. Then the camera moves in to the detail: the machines, the workers’ hands and the finished product.

Three minutes: what goes in

Both BULOG videos run just over three minutes. In that time a business unit video can cover:

  1. An opening that names the unit and its service straight away.
  2. The customer problem or need the unit answers.
  3. The work or production process, shown on location.
  4. Proof of capability: facilities, team, certifications or results the unit already has.
  5. A close with contact details or an invitation to work together.

One project for several units

The BULOG project was managed by head office, while each video is used by its own unit. This gives two benefits. Head office keeps a consistent look across its units, and each unit still has a video that speaks about its own service.

If your BUMN runs several business units, consider the same pattern: one visual concept, then a story written for each unit.

Working with BUMN teams

We have worked with several BUMN, including BULOG, Pertamina, PLN and Jasa Raharja. For PLN we made animated videos for the PLN Transformation programme. This is what PLN’s Vice President of Internal Communication said about that work:

Ilusyx Creative is not just a company; it has become an outstanding communication and branding solution. Every production brings together brilliant ideas, excellent technique and professional execution, always delivering perfection for every client need.

Communication for the Transformation programme at PLN has been guided very well by the Ilusyx Creative team. Their animated videos are exceptional. Thank you, Ilusyx team. Keep shining, keep thriving!

Production and timing

We handle the concept, script, storyboard, shooting, drone, editing, motion graphics and voice over. Shooting usually takes 2 to 7 days, editing 1 to 2 weeks, and the whole project 1 to 4 months depending on the concept. For a project covering several units, plan the shoot schedule for each location at the storyboard stage.

Tell us about your business unit

Send us the unit’s name, the service you want to feature and who the video is for. We will help shape the concept for your business unit profile video from there.

Let’s Work Together

Tell us the video you need, who it is for and when it has to be ready. We reply with a first step we can start on.
